TOPIC: WHERE IS THE NOISE?

THIS ACTIVITY ENCOURAGES AWARENESS,  PROBLEM-SOLVING, LISTENING SKILLS, VOCABULARY BUILDING


EXAMPLE::

Your baby caregiver will gather a noise-making object to shake behind their highchair. As she now moves out of their visual range, she will then move first to the right and then to the left, as she makes noises with her object, encouraging your baby to follow the sounds. When your baby shows they are paying attention to the sounds, she then moves back into the baby's visual range, rewarding them by clapping, and saying "Good Job!" "Good Job! "Good Job!" like the game PEEK-A-BOO.

TOPIC: HUNGRY MONKEY

THIS ACTIVITY BUILDS FINE MOTOR SKILLS, VOCABULARY, COLOR RECOGNITION


EXAMPLE:

In front of two toddlers, two monkey printouts with a wide-open mouth attached to separate open empty tissue box with a baby food container placed in front of the monkeys.  With the supervision of caregivers, the younger toddler was encouraged to feed their monkey with their fingers a yellow banana.  The older toddler was encouraged to spoon-feed their monkey. As the toddler provided the monkey, their caregivers repeated, " The monkey is eating the yellow banana!"

TOPIC: WHAT'S UNDERNEATH

THIS ACTIVITY ENCOURAGES CHILDREN'S INTEREST IN NATURE, VOCABULARY BUILDING,  COUNTING, AND DEVELOPING THEIR MEMORY SKILLS.

 

EXAMPLE: 

One matching lizard hiding beneath each rock was placed then around the room by their caregiver. Children will then take turns lifting pairs of stones in the hope of finding matching lizards. The children are to return their unmatched lizard underneath the rock. Call out "Match Two!" when matches are found, just like playing the memory game.

THIS ACTIVITY ENCOURAGES BETTER LISTENING, SELF-AWARENESS, TEAMWORK, AND PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS.

EXAMPLE:

Your child will be encouraged to take part in a group discussion. Two of the children would act out the scenario as playmates. The caregiver gave a toy to the children that they both liked. Playmate one wants to also play with playmate two toys, but playmate two is not sharing. Playmate one now looks very sad. Both children have been playing with their toys for an extended time. The group, including our actors, would be asked by their educator what the problem is? How would they feel if they were playmate one, and how can they tell not sharing has become a problem? Their goal is to develop a solution and a possible outcome as a group.
